Is sexting really harmful to teens?

In recent years, adolescents have been more and more involved in the sending and receiving of sexually explicit information via the Internet. This is commonly called “sexting”. Some adolescents do not understand the risks associated with these behaviors. Other teens are aware of the risks but feel tremendous social pressure to conform to group behaviors. Other teens just want to try sexting for the emotional thrill of sending or receiving sexually explicit content, but may not understand the long-term consequences.
